We Energies customers in Wisconsin are set to receive more than $32 million in automatic electricity bill credits this autumn after fuel costs came in below forecasts.
Most residential customers are expected to receive between $13 and $14, although the exact amount will depend on how much electricity they use in October. The credit will be applied automatically to bills issued in October or November, depending on each customer’s billing cycle.
How the We Energies bill credit will work
The residential credit is worth approximately two cents for every kilowatt-hour used during October. A household using 660 kilowatt-hours over the month would receive a credit of about $13.60.
Customers on Budget Billing will have the adjustment included in their next account review, when actual costs are compared with estimated charges.
For people enrolled in We Energies’ Energy for Tomorrow programme, the credit will apply to the part of their electricity bill not covered by the scheme.
The payment follows a fuel cost adjustment built into We Energies’ electricity rates. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin approves an estimated cost for the fuel needed to generate power, with later differences passed back to customers through a credit or added charge.
We Energies said the adjustment was triggered because fuel expenses during 2025 were lower than projected.
