A 16-year-old boy has died after being shot in Troup County, Georgia, with a 21-year-old man arrested at a nearby home later the same evening.
Paul Smith, of LaGrange, was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds after deputies were called to the 200 block of Bass Cross Road at about 7.03pm on Tuesday, October 13.
Emergency crews began life-saving treatment before taking him to WellStar West Georgia Medical Centre, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators said the shooting had taken place at a house on Sims Road. Another person who was inside the vehicle drove Smith away from the property before calling 911.
Hunter Smith was arrested without incident at the Sims Road address shortly before 10pm and taken to Troup County Jail.
The sheriff’s office has not disclosed a possible motive or said what relationship, if any, existed between the two men.
The investigation remains active, officials said.
