An Australian man has been charged with drug possession in Bali after police allegedly found dozens of cannabis packets and other suspected narcotics in his room in Denpasar.
Arron Robert Brokenshire, 36, from Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was arrested at the Dewi Sri Apartment in Pemogan Village at about 7pm local time on August 10.
Denpasar Police said the arrest followed several days of investigation after receiving information from the local community that a foreign man was allegedly distributing drugs in South Denpasar.
Officers searching the room allegedly found 37 small packets of cannabis with a combined weight of 36.64 grams. Two packets of tobacco, suspected of containing narcotics, were also seized and weighed 21.30 grams in total.
Police additionally seized a bong allegedly used to smoke methamphetamine and an electronic scale.
Investigators allege Mr Brokenshire said he bought the cannabis from another person at Kuta Beach for 2 million Indonesian rupiah, equivalent to about 160 Australian dollars.
Police are working to identify the alleged seller and have accused Mr Brokenshire of being involved in drug dealing. He is expected to face charges relating to the alleged possession and distribution of cannabis and tobacco suspected of containing synthetic narcotics.
If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison.
