An Australian man has been arrested in Bali and charged over the alleged possession and distribution of cannabis and other suspected drugs.
Arron Robert Brokenshire, 36, from Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was detained at the Dewi Sri Apartment in Denpasar’s Pemogan Village at about 7pm local time on August 10.
Denpasar Police said the arrest followed several days of investigation after members of the local community reported that a foreign man was allegedly distributing drugs in South Denpasar.
Officers searching Mr Brokenshire’s room allegedly found 37 small packets containing cannabis, with a combined weight of 36.64g.
They also seized two packets of tobacco suspected of containing narcotics, weighing 21.30g in total, along with a bong allegedly used to smoke methamphetamine and an electronic scale.
Police allege Mr Brokenshire told investigators he had bought the cannabis from another person at Kuta Beach for two million Indonesian rupiah, equivalent to about A$160.
Authorities are working to identify the alleged seller, while police have accused Mr Brokenshire of acting as a drug dealer.
If convicted over the alleged possession and distribution of cannabis and tobacco suspected of containing synthetic narcotics, he could face up to 12 years in prison.
