Amber Siyavus, who appeared on the eighth season of Big Brother, had a history of legal troubles before her death in Nevada at the age of 46.
Court documents show that Siyavus pleaded guilty in 2020 to attempting to resist an officer with a dangerous weapon. Prosecutors alleged that she tried to drive away while a Henderson police officer was partially inside her vehicle.
She received a suspended prison sentence of 19 to 48 months and up to four years’ probation. The sentence also included orders for substance abuse and mental health evaluations.
In a separate case that same year, Siyavus pleaded guilty to felony forgery involving Western Union money orders. She was given another suspended prison sentence and up to two years’ probation.
Siyavus was no longer under court supervision for either offence by 2023.
Her cause and manner of death remain under investigation after she died in Nevada on Friday.
Siyavus was remembered by viewers for her appearance on the CBS reality show in 2007, where her frequent crying led to the nickname “Whamber”.
She also experienced a major family tragedy in 2018, when her 18-year-old daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, died in Ohio in what was investigated as an apparent suicide.
