Chelsea are reportedly preparing a €100 million move for Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, with initial talks expected to begin in November ahead of a possible January transfer.
Spanish outlet Fichajes claims the west London club want to reach an agreement for the Turkey international by January 1, 2027. The proposed deal would represent a major statement of intent from Chelsea in the first winter transfer window under Xabi Alonso.
Güler has impressed since joining Real Madrid and remains regarded as one of European football’s most promising attacking midfielders. However, there is uncertainty over how central he will be to Jose Mourinho’s plans at the Bernabéu.
Chelsea’s interest in Arda Güler faces major obstacles
Alonso’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could strengthen Chelsea’s interest in Güler, having worked with the player during his time in Madrid. The manager is understood to be keen to reshape his midfield following Enzo Fernández’s late-summer move to Manchester City.
Arsenal have also previously been linked with Güler, although their interest did not develop into a formal bid during the summer. Real Madrid were determined to retain the 21-year-old and there has been no clear indication that the club are actively seeking his departure.
That makes a January agreement difficult to envisage. Madrid are not generally inclined to sell high-profile players during the season, particularly when they remain part of the club’s plans, and Chelsea would need to convince both the Spanish giants and the player.
The reported €100 million valuation underlines the scale of the proposed move, but the claim remains unconfirmed and should be treated cautiously. Chelsea may admire Güler’s profile, yet completing a deal for one of Real Madrid’s emerging stars in the middle of the campaign would be a substantial challenge.
