Chelsea are expected to send scouts to watch Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi in action, with Manchester City also understood to be monitoring the forward.
Tresoldi has attracted growing attention after scoring a hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League. The 22-year-old German has continued that form this season, scoring nine goals so far, including four in his past three Champions League matches.
He scored 23 times in all competitions last season, and his performances have reportedly prompted several leading Premier League clubs to take a closer look.
Chelsea face competition for Nicolo Tresoldi
Manchester United have previously watched Tresoldi, while Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the Club Brugge forward. The interest could develop into a battle between several English clubs during the January transfer window.
Chelsea are building a squad around highly rated young players and could view Tresoldi as a long-term addition to their attack. The club have not made the most convincing start, increasing the potential need for attacking reinforcements.
Manchester City could also consider Tresoldi as they lack a back-up option for Erling Haaland. United may have an opportunity to use him more regularly amid Benjamin Sesko’s injury problems, while Arsenal could see him as an alternative to Viktor Gyokeres.
It remains early in the process, but Chelsea’s planned scouting trip underlines the attention Tresoldi has earned after his prolific performances for Club Brugge.
