Cheryl and Kelly Rowland enjoyed a night out in Manchester, singing and dancing together at Via on Canal Street while filming the new series of The Voice UK.
The Girls Aloud singer, 43, and the Destiny’s Child star, 45, were captured in social media clips performing Rowland’s 2010 hit Commander during their visit to the venue on Tuesday.
Cheryl later took the microphone to sing her own track, Fight For This Love, as the evening continued.
She wore a fluorescent pink and green blazer with fuchsia high heels and a statement necklace bearing the word ‘Love’. Rowland opted for a plunging PVC jumpsuit as she danced on the floor.
The pair are in Manchester for production of the latest series of The Voice UK. Cheryl was pictured at the show’s Salford studio last week, where she began filming the blind auditions alongside fellow new coach Aitch.
Rowland and will.i.am will also remain on the coaching panel, while Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon have been confirmed as the new hosts following Emma Willis’s departure for Strictly Come Dancing.
Cheryl’s appointment came after it emerged that Sir Tom Jones would not return as a coach, with the change prompting controversy around the new line-up.
Jones said he had not wanted to leave the programme and claimed ITV had made the decision because of “a financial difficulty with insurance”. He added that he had been offered a reduced role in which he would appear without being involved from the start.
“So the only thing I know right now, is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job,” he wrote in a statement.
ITV said it had “loved working with Sir Tom Jones over the past nine years” and confirmed that he would no longer be a full-time coach on series 15, while discussions about his possible involvement in the next series continued.
The new series marks Cheryl’s return to primetime television after her last appearance as a dance captain on the BBC’s The Greatest Dancer in 2020.
