Christie Brinkley drew attention at a screening of her new film American Summer in the Hamptons on Tuesday, 1 September, after posing alongside her two eldest children, Alexa Ray Joel and Jack Brinkley-Cook.
The 72-year-old model appeared with Joel, 40, and Brinkley-Cook, 31, in photographs from the event, prompting comparisons between the trio and comments that Brinkley looked more like a sibling than a mother.
Brinkley wore a Breton top with navy trousers, styling her blonde hair loose, while Joel paired a strapless white top with a leather jacket. Brinkley-Cook opted for a blue linen shirt, carpenter-style trousers and Birkenstock mules.
Brinkley’s youngest daughter, 28-year-old Sailor Brinkley-Cook, was not at the screening. She had joined her mother at a separate Hamptons event the previous week, where the pair wore coordinated denim outfits.

The event came ahead of the United States theatrical release of American Summer on Friday, 4 September. The family comedy stars Brinkley opposite Steve Guttenberg and follows a man looking back on a formative summer involving first love, baseball and anxiety over his father’s disappearance while serving overseas. The film was directed by Michael W. Gray and filmed in several communities in New Jersey, including Westwood, Ho-Ho-Kus and Allendale. Brinkley has previously spoken about the way her attitude to ageing has changed. In an interview with Social Life magazine published in June, she said: “I think that with age you get… freer.”
She added that growing older brought “a freedom” that meant she no longer felt obliged to worry about other people’s opinions of her clothes or put up with things she disliked.
Brinkley shares Alexa Ray Joel with singer Billy Joel and Jack with property developer Peter Taubman. She and architect Peter Cook later welcomed Sailor during their marriage.
