Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber drew attention at New York Fashion Week as they appeared together at the launch of Kaia’s Re/Done pop-up, with the mother and daughter looking strikingly alike.
Crawford, 60, joined her 25-year-old daughter at the event in New York on Thursday, offering her support as Gerber unveiled her first fully co-designed capsule collection for the denim label.
The pair shared similar dark hair, brown eyes and statuesque model frames. Crawford opted for a black satin camisole and matching midi skirt, adding a leather jacket and boots after attending a Net-A-Porter event earlier in the evening.
Gerber kept her look more casual, wearing a cropped T-shirt with flared jeans from the collection. The model has previously said she has owned one of Re/Done’s T-shirts for about a decade.
In an interview with Vogue, Gerber said the brand had retained its personal appeal despite growing in popularity.
“What I have always loved about Re/Done is that even as it’s grown, you never feel like you’re losing the personal, intimate experience of shopping there,” she said.
Gerber joined Re/Done as an investor, creative partner and advisory board member earlier this year. Her collection combines denim, T-shirts, jackets and other vintage-inspired wardrobe staples.
Her father, businessman Rande Gerber, was also seen supporting her at the launch. Guests included Scout Willis, who performed during the event, and singer Hayes Warner.
Crawford has previously spoken about the attention surrounding her resemblance to her daughter, saying she enjoys the comparisons but recognises that the scrutiny may be more complicated for Gerber.
“It doesn’t annoy me at all. I love it, but I don’t know what it’s like to have a famous parent,” Crawford told PORTER magazine.
“There are perks that come with it, and then there are probably annoying things, and I have acknowledged that with her. I’m sure at times it sucks.”
The supermodel has also described working alongside Gerber as one of the privileges of her career. The pair appeared together in the Versace show in 2017, when Gerber was beginning to establish herself in the fashion industry.
Crawford and Rande Gerber, who married in 1998, also have a son, Presley, 27. With both children now living independently, Crawford said the couple were learning to redefine their relationship as empty nesters.
“It’s an opportunity for us to redefine our relationship,” she said. “What do we want to do, do we want to travel, do we not want to travel? We haven’t answered those questions yet but we’re asking the questions – and it’s fun trying to figure that out together.”
