Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer has rejected claims that she plans to testify in her former husband’s civil lawsuit against her former mental health providers.
Kevin Reddington criticised statements made by Patrick Clancy’s legal team during a Massachusetts hearing on Wednesday, insisting that Lindsay had never said she intended to give evidence in the case.
“Lindsay Clancy never told any of her healthcare providers that she harbored homicidal ideation toward her children,” Mr Reddington said in a statement.
He also denied that anyone representing Lindsay had suggested she would take the stand or had indicated that she planned to testify in Patrick’s wrongful death claim.
“Mr. Clancy’s counsel does not speak for Lindsay Clancy,” Mr Reddington added.
The dispute arose during a hearing on a motion to dismiss Patrick’s lawsuit against Lindsay’s former medical providers. He alleges that they mishandled her mental health treatment before the deaths of the couple’s three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, in January 2023.
Patrick’s lawyer told the judge that he believed Lindsay would testify that she had explicitly warned healthcare providers she was experiencing homicidal thoughts and feared something terrible could happen to her children.
Lindsay was charged with murdering the children before attempting suicide. Her defence argued that she had suffered from postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors disagreed. Her trial ended in a mistrial in September.
Patrick has since divorced Lindsay, who has filed her own medical malpractice lawsuit. A judge has yet to rule on his case, and Lindsay could face a retrial.
