A grandmother from Currambine has won $3.39 million in Saturday Lotto, but plans to keep the windfall secret from her adult children and grandchildren while quietly helping them financially.
The woman, who is in her 70s, secured one of three division one prizes in the $10 million Special Event draw. Her share of the main prize was $3.33 million, with more than $57,000 in additional winnings across other divisions.
She and her husband intend to pay off their mortgage, travel around Australia and use the money to provide greater security for their family.
“We have always helped out our family when they have needed it, now we will be able to do so in more significant ways,” she said.
“We won’t be telling them about the win, so I guess we will have to come up with some creative explanations for why we can help them out when they need it.”
The couple’s first indulgence will be an upgrade to a hotel stay already booked for the husband’s birthday.
“We had a hotel stay booked for my husband’s birthday, so we will be going for an upgraded suite now,” the winner said.
The winning Slikpik System 5 ticket was bought from Currambine Lottery Centre. The ticket was one of three nationally to claim a division one prize in the draw.
Lotterywest spokeswoman Jennie Fitzhardinge said System tickets covered multiple combinations of numbers, allowing a winning entry to collect prizes in several divisions.
“Saturday Lotto is played by selecting six numbers,” she said.
“Choosing a System ticket allows players to select fewer or more numbers than are drawn, generating every possible combination for your chosen numbers from a single ticket.”
The Saturday Lotto Special Event also raised about $2.4 million for the community. Lotterywest said the money would support community organisations, including a $120,000 grant towards the 2026 Joondalup Festival.
