Three men were killed and four others wounded in a shooting on Detroit’s west side early on Sunday morning, police said.
Officers were called to Prest Street, between Chalfonte Street and Eaton Avenue, shortly after 7.20am on 27 September. The three men were found suffering from fatal gunshot wounds, while the four injured people — two men and two women — were taken to hospital in private vehicles with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said a gunshot-detection alert was received at about 7.21am, followed by a 911 call a minute later. Officers arrived roughly four minutes after being dispatched, he said.
Police believe an altercation took place before the gunfire, although detectives were still working to establish what led to the shooting. Chief Bettison said investigators had leads and did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
The shooting happened at what police described as an after-hours venue where adult entertainment-type activity was taking place. The chief said the property had previously attracted police attention and had been the subject of seven calls for service since the start of 2026.
The identities of the three men who died had not been released. Police said the investigation remained active and that the circumstances of the shooting could become clearer as detectives interview witnesses and examine evidence.
