Emily Atack celebrated her second wedding in Spain, marrying scientist Dr Alistair Garner in front of 197 friends and family in the hilltop town of Mojacar.
The 36-year-old actress arrived at the ceremony in a vintage red Cadillac, accompanied by her chief bridesmaid. She wore a veil and an off-the-shoulder gown with a long train.
Her father, pop star Keith Atack, 67, met her at the venue and walked his eldest daughter down the aisle for the second time. He was dressed casually in flip-flops.
The ceremony took place in the courtyard of a 16th-century church in the whitewashed town, where the guests gathered in temperatures reaching 30C.
David Eagle, a British comedian and folk musician who has written material for The Emily Atack Show, acted as registrar. Addressing the congregation, he said: “I expect some of you in here are experiencing some Deja vu.”
The remark referred to Atack’s first wedding to Garner, which took place in Bedfordshire three weeks earlier.
Guests had been waiting for almost two hours at the drinks reception before the bride arrived. They were asked over a tannoy to prepare for her entrance and were handed rose petals.
The registrar later told the gathering there had been a “five minute delay for reasons I cannot divulge”. Ice buckets were filled with Cava, while beer and cocktails were served and a string quartet played as guests waited.
Because of the heat and a shortage of chairs, members of the congregation stood beneath parasols. Katherine Ryan helped herself to pre-ceremony oysters with her husband, Bobby Koostra, while waiting for the bride.
After the ceremony, Atack and Garner walked through a shower of rose petals, led a Champagne toast and mingled with their guests.
The reception menu included cod risotto or mandarin sorbet, followed by shredded suckling pig with pumpkin compote and roasted apples. Dessert was mango mousse with nougat ice cream and raspberry coulis, with rum and coffee served afterwards.
The meal was held beneath the umbrella-shaped canopy of a century-old Ficus Benjamina tree decorated with fairy lights.
Among those attending were David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Rufus Jones, Bella Maclean and Victoria Smurfit, who appeared with Atack in the Disney+ series Rivals. The programme’s writer Dominic Treadwell-Collins and lead producer Felicity Tucci were also present, alongside Tucci’s husband, actor Stanley.
Comedians Keith Lemon and Katherine Ryan were among the other guests, while Love Island voice-over star Iain Stirling attended with his wife, Laura Whitmore.
Atack has a two-year-old son with Garner and has previously said it was her dream to marry in Mojacar after spending childhood summers at her father’s property.
