The Sydney Morning Herald’s Superquiz has been given a new mobile-friendly design, with live comparisons, social sharing and a clearer scoring system added to the daily general-knowledge challenge.
The refreshed format is intended to make the quiz faster and easier to use on smartphones while retaining its familiar structure of 15 questions each day.
Players can now see how other readers have answered in real time. Once a question has been completed, percentages show the proportion of participants who selected each answer, offering an immediate comparison and an indication of how difficult the question proved for the wider audience.
The updated interface also displays the total number of questions beside the progress bar, alongside the player’s position in the quiz, such as 3/15. A running score is shown in green at the top right of the screen.
Questions continue to appear one at a time rather than in a full list, keeping the focus on each challenge as players work through the quiz.
At the end, results can be shared with friends and family through Facebook, X and WhatsApp. Players who want another attempt, or wish to hand the device to someone else, can select ‘Play Again’ to reset the quiz.
The publisher is inviting readers to provide feedback on the redesign, with further changes expected as the new format develops.
