A British judge has ruled that police search warrants used against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were unlawful, in a significant victory for the former prince months after his arrest over suspected misconduct linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
The warrants were used by Thames Valley Police to search his homes in February, shortly after he was arrested. The judge ruled in London on Thursday that officers had relied on the wrong law when applying to the courts for approval.
The decision has raised questions about the evidence gathered during the searches and whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will ever be charged.
Thames Valley Police is seeking to retain the material collected during the raids, arguing that its investigation is continuing and that it wants more witnesses to come forward.
