West Australian landscaper Kaine Fisher has died after being struck by a car while working in a friend’s garden in Carramar, in Perth’s north.
Mr Fisher, 22, was working late last month when a white Toyota Corolla hatchback lost control and crashed into the garden.
His family said they were experiencing “unfathomable sadness” following the death of the young man, who was building his own landscaping business.
“Kaine was just 22 years old, living his best life, building his own landscaping business and, in true Kaine fashion, doing life entirely his own way,” relatives wrote in a post on the company’s Facebook page.
“He was the truest definition of selfless – always giving, always helping and always thinking of others. He took an immense pride in his work and in helping others.”
Customers, friends and relatives responded with messages of grief, including former customer Melissa Phillipson, who recalled Mr Fisher installing an irrigation system in her garden during the summer.
“It seems like yesterday he was out the front chatting away to me while he worked,” she wrote. Ms Phillipson also remembered rescuing a baby rabbit from one of the trenches he had dug.
Western Australia Police said the driver of the hatchback, a 74-year-old man, was assisting with inquiries. No charges have been laid.
Police are continuing to seek dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage of the incident as the investigation remains ongoing.
