Leeds United are interested in Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara as manager Daniel Farke seeks to improve his side’s creativity ahead of the January transfer window.
The Brazil international has been identified as a possible addition to Leeds’ midfield, with the club looking to add greater attacking quality during the second half of the season.
Leeds face competition for Gabriel Sara
Sara, 27, joined Galatasaray from Norwich City in 2024 and has become an important player for the Turkish club. He has made an encouraging start to the current campaign, scoring twice and providing four assists in 10 appearances across all competitions.
His technical ability, vision and passing could appeal to Leeds, who have struggled to turn promising attacking positions into goals in recent weeks. A lack of invention and quality in the final pass has been a particular concern.
Sara’s previous experience in English football could also make him an attractive option, having spent two seasons with Norwich. He is understood to be keen to play in England’s top flight again, which could add to the appeal of a move to Elland Road.
However, Leeds are not the only club monitoring the midfielder. Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Everton and Crystal Palace have also explored the possibility of signing him, while Leeds made enquiries during the summer transfer window.
Galatasaray would be under no immediate pressure to sell, with Sara contracted until 2029. That leaves the Turkish champions in a strong negotiating position should interest develop into a January bid.
Leeds are also considering Coventry City’s Jack Rudoni and Lyon’s Pavel Sulc as alternative creative options. Sara remains a leading target for Farke, but the club would need to overcome significant competition to complete a deal.
