Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth left-back Adrien Truffert, setting up potential competition with Manchester United for the French international ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.
The 24-year-old has become one of Bournemouth’s most reliable performers since joining from Rennes. His adaptation to English football has attracted interest from a number of leading clubs.
Liverpool interest in Adrien Truffert emerges
Manchester United have identified Truffert as a possible long-term option at left-back, with concerns over Luke Shaw’s fitness and the club’s failure to add another specialist in the position during the summer.
Liverpool’s reported interest could now complicate United’s plans. The Anfield club may consider strengthening at left-back if they decide they need greater competition or an upgrade in the position.
Truffert moved to Bournemouth in 2025 as the replacement for Milos Kerkez, who joined Liverpool. He quickly established himself in the Premier League, starting every league match last season and contributing one goal and five assists.
Bournemouth want around £60m for defender
Bournemouth are under no pressure to sell and are expected to seek a fee of about £60 million for Truffert. That would represent a significant profit on the sum paid to Rennes for his services.
Liverpool and Manchester United could also face competition from Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Benfica and AC Milan, who have previously shown interest in the defender.
A January transfer is considered difficult because Bournemouth are reluctant to lose an important first-team player during the season. Next summer is likely to offer a more realistic opportunity for the interested clubs.
Truffert’s age, Premier League experience and attacking contribution are understood to be key attractions for Liverpool, United and the other clubs monitoring his situation. The outcome could depend on whether Bournemouth soften their position and which club the France international favours.
