Liverpool are among the clubs leading the pursuit of Defensor Sporting winger Nicolás Scotti, with the 16-year-old Uruguay youth international attracting interest from across Europe and South America.
Scotti has only recently begun appearing in senior football, but his pace, close control and ability to operate on either flank have already placed him on the radar of several prominent clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester United are also monitoring the teenager, while Borussia Dortmund, São Paulo and Atlético Mineiro have registered interest.
Scotti is understood to have a release clause worth about $8 million (£6 million), although Defensor Sporting’s financial circumstances could make it possible for a club to negotiate a lower fee.
The winger was born on November 26, 2009, and is part of Uruguay’s Under-17 set-up. His senior involvement has begun to increase, with official Uruguayan Football Association records showing four league appearances and 85 minutes for Defensor Sporting this season.
His age means any move to Liverpool would require careful planning. FIFA regulations generally prevent international transfers for players under 18, apart from limited exceptions, so a permanent move to England could not be completed immediately.
Liverpool’s interest reflects a strategy of identifying promising players before their market value rises significantly. Scotti remains at the beginning of his senior career, meaning any potential deal would represent an investment in his development rather than an immediate first-team solution.
A future agreement could allow him to continue playing in Uruguay before making the transition to English football. However, Liverpool face competition from clubs with established reputations for developing young talent, including Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The teenager’s eventual choice could therefore depend on more than the financial terms. A convincing development plan, consistent communication and a credible route towards senior football may all influence where Scotti’s career progresses.
