Liverpool have added Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara to their shortlist as they consider reinforcements for the central midfield ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg says the Premier League champions are monitoring the Senegal international as they assess their options in the position.
Camara, 22, has attracted attention since joining Monaco, with his energetic displays and technical ability making him one of the players under consideration by leading European clubs.
Liverpool weigh up midfield options for 2027
The midfielder’s work rate, passing range and ability to contribute defensively and offensively are understood to be among the qualities that appeal to Liverpool. His age and scope for further development could also make him a long-term option for the club.
Liverpool are also considering Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, while Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha is admired. Nmecha is not currently viewed as a leading target, however.
Camara’s experience in French football means Liverpool could regard him as capable of competing for a starting place while continuing to improve.
Any move could prove difficult after Chelsea previously came close to signing him. Monaco withdrew from that proposed agreement on deadline day in September 2026, with the transfer understood to have been worth about £47 million.
The failed deal underlined Monaco’s determination to retain control over the futures of key players. Camara has since returned his focus to the French club, meaning Liverpool may need to make an attractive offer if they decide to pursue him.
A January approach has not been ruled out if the right opportunity emerges, although a move during the summer is considered more realistic as Liverpool plan further midfield investment.
