Liverpool’s hopes of signing Michael Olise in the January 2027 transfer window have been dismissed, with Bayern Munich insider Christian Falk insisting there is no prospect of the France international leaving the Bundesliga champions mid-season.
Olise has emerged as one of Europe’s most influential wide players since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace in July 2024. His form has fuelled speculation that Liverpool could view him as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah on the right side of their attack.
Michael Olise Liverpool transfer hopes ruled out
Falk said Bayern would not consider selling the 24-year-old while they are pursuing success in the Champions League.
“There is absolutely no chance of selling the Frenchman in the January transfer window,” Falk wrote in his Bayern-focused column. He added that the club would not part with a player they need during the season, regardless of the size of the offer.
The German journalist said Olise would remain at Bayern for the rest of the campaign and ruled out a move to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or any other interested club.
Bayern’s position is strengthened by the winger’s contract, which runs until 30 June 2029. The club’s official profile also records that Olise has been named its Player of the Season in both of his first two campaigns in Munich, while he was voted the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season for 2025/26. The France international was involved in 50 goals for club and country during the period highlighted in the transfer speculation, underlining why Liverpool have been linked with a move for him.
Those reports have previously suggested that Olise is viewed as an attractive option to eventually fill the attacking role occupied by Salah. However, Falk’s update indicates that Liverpool will have to look elsewhere for a January reinforcement.
The winger’s immediate future is therefore settled: he is expected to remain with Vincent Kompany’s Bayern side as they attempt to retain their domestic honours and mount another Champions League challenge.
