Lucy Davis has spoken of her pride after completing a demanding hike before zip-lining through a California canyon, just weeks after revealing that she has incurable stage four breast cancer.
The 53-year-old actor, best known for playing Dawn Tinsley in the original British version of The Office, shared the latest adventure with followers as she continues to make the most of her time following her diagnosis.
Davis was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer around 18 months ago. She said the disease had spread to her bones, including her spine, right hip and ribs, and that it was too late for chemotherapy.
Despite explaining that pain can make standing and walking difficult, and that she sometimes needs to use a wheelchair, Davis completed the hike before taking on the zip line over the canyon in California.
She previously urged people not to ignore unusual changes after describing the first sign of her illness as a very small hard spot which she nearly did not have checked.
In her announcement, shared on Instagram last month, Davis said she was trying to live whatever time remained “in as fun a way as I possibly can”. She also said humour had been vital and asked friends and family not to treat her as a “sick person”.
Davis rose to prominence as Dawn, the receptionist at Wernham Hogg, in the BBC sitcom, which ran from 2001 to 2003. She later appeared in films including Shaun of the Dead and Wonder Woman, as well as the television series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
