Mabel, the eldest daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has paid tribute to her 13-year-old sister Fiona following her death.
The 17-year-old shared photographs and videos from the sisters’ childhood, remembering Fiona as the family mourned her loss.
“I love you so much Fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now,” Mabel wrote.
“I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much.”
Lowe and Painter, who also have a 10-year-old daughter, Nixie, announced Fiona’s death in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” they said.
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
Fiona was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 1.14am on September 29. The coroner’s office later ruled her death a suicide. She would have turned 14 on November 16.
Charles “Chuck” Lowe, Chad Lowe’s father, was among the first family members to pay public tribute, writing: “Rest in peace sweet Fiona.” He later shared photographs of the three sisters together.
Fiona’s school and wider community have also been described as coming together to remember her. A source said she was “sweet, quiet and kind”, adding that dance was her “biggest passion” and that she had “a very artistic soul”.
Lowe and Painter have urged anyone struggling with their mental health to seek support. In Australia, Lifeline can be contacted on 13 11 14, while beyondblue can be reached on 1300 224 636.
