Police in Readington Township, New Jersey, are trying to identify a man repeatedly seen riding an electric bicycle naked along local trails.
The Readington Township Police Department said it had received sporadic reports over several years about the cyclist, whose latest appearance was reported on Friday, September 4. Officers said the man was photographed during the incident, with parts of the image obscured before it was released publicly.
In a light-hearted appeal, the department described him as a “free-spirited cyclist” and said he appeared to be wearing “considerably less safety equipment than we would recommend”.
Authorities have asked anyone who recognises the man, or who has information that could help establish his identity, to contact Readington Township Police on 908-534-4031.
The department said the photograph had been edited so that, “for everyone’s sake, certain portions of the image have been appropriately ‘secured’”.
Readington police ended their appeal with a reminder aimed at other trail users: “Helmets are strongly encouraged. Pants are even more strongly encouraged.”
