Nicki Minaj’s lawyers are seeking permission to withdraw from a lawsuit involving the rapper and her company, Pink Friday Productions, citing a breakdown in communication.
Law firm Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever has asked a judge to end its representation of Minaj and Pink Friday Productions in proceedings brought by 24/7 Productions.
The lawsuit alleges that Minaj and her company failed to reimburse more than $200,000 in expenses which 24/7 Productions says it incurred in connection with the Pink Friday 2 album.
In legal documents, the firm attributed its request to “irreconcilable differences” over the conduct of the representation. The lawyers said they no longer believed they could continue working for Minaj.
The firm also said it had tried to notify the rapper of its decision but had encountered difficulties serving her.
According to the documents, a man hired to serve Minaj went to the building where she lives in a $10 million penthouse. He said a concierge told him Minaj was not there, although her husband was, and described the couple as having a “tendency of not answering their phones.”
