Blacc Sam, the brother of Nipsey Hussle, has praised Jay-Z’s tribute to the late rapper at a concert in Inglewood, describing it as a “monumental” gesture.
Sam said Jay-Z’s performance at SoFi Stadium over the weekend prompted a flood of messages to his phone. He was speaking at LAX on Monday.
He said Jay-Z had supported both him and Nipsey Hussle for years, in ways spanning music and business that many people did not know about.
According to Sam, Jay-Z evolved from an artist they admired while growing up into someone within their close circle who actively championed Nipsey’s career.
Sam also credited Jay-Z with supporting Hussle’s family and the Marathon Burger chain he co-owns with his brother. The business has opened a new location at LAX’s Terminal 1.
He said Jay-Z’s continued involvement showed that “the marathon continues”.
