Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy struck a cautious note as he faced reporters ahead of Game 4 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays in St Petersburg, Florida, on Tuesday.
The Brewers lead the best-of-seven series 3-0 after a 10-1 victory in Game 3 and are one win away from claiming the first World Series title in franchise history.
Murphy resisted any suggestion that the contest was already decided, stressing the unpredictability of baseball despite his side’s commanding position.
“This is a best-of-seven series,” Murphy said. “So, it looks like we’re in the driver’s seat, but that doesn’t, you know, it’s baseball. Anything can happen. But I like the way we battle.”
Milwaukee’s latest victory was powered by an eight-run fifth inning, while Jackson Chourio collected four hits and Robert Gasser held Tampa Bay to one hit across six scoreless innings.
Game 4 is scheduled to begin at Tropicana Field at 8pm local time, with the Brewers seeking to complete a sweep and the Rays attempting to keep the series alive.
