Brighton are relaxed about manager Fabian Hürzeler’s future despite growing interest from Manchester United, with no contact having been made over the 33-year-old.
Hürzeler’s reputation has risen sharply after Brighton’s impressive start to the season. The Seagulls sit third in the Premier League and have developed a forceful, attacking style that has attracted attention from Old Trafford.
Brighton confident over Fabian Hürzeler’s future
Manchester United are understood to admire Hürzeler as pressure mounts on Michael Carrick, but Brighton believe they remain in a strong position to retain their manager.
Hürzeler signed a new contract earlier this year that runs until 2029. Brighton are not surprised by the interest, yet they have received no approach from another club.
The German has overseen just one defeat in Brighton’s opening seven league matches. Sunday’s emphatic 5-0 win over Crystal Palace moved them into third place.
Brighton are also the Premier League’s leading scorers, with 23 goals, and have kept four consecutive league clean sheets. Their performances have combined aggressive pressing, attacking quality and increasing control of matches.
Those qualities help explain Manchester United’s interest. The club have lacked a clear identity this season, while Hürzeler has quickly established one at Brighton.
However, any move would likely require significant compensation given the length of his contract. Brighton can also point to their position near the top of the table and the absence of a formal approach from United.
For now, the club’s confidence appears justified, although continued success could bring more concrete interest in Hürzeler from bigger clubs.
