A 51-year-old man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a two-vehicle crash in North Austin killed another driver, according to an arrest affidavit.
Luis Manuel Reveles-Ibarra was accused of driving a Chevrolet Silverado that struck the driver’s side of a silver Kia at the junction of East Anderson Lane eastbound service road and Cameron Road at about 2.11am on Saturday, October 10.
Police said the Kia was travelling north on Cameron Road and had entered the intersection on a green light. The Silverado was travelling south on the service road and was allegedly speeding when the collision occurred.
The Kia driver, Yasel Rodriguez Girado, was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by Austin Fire and Austin-Travis County emergency medical services. Police identified him as 34 years old. ([austintexas.gov](https://www.austintexas.gov/police/news/traffic-fatality-intersection-east-anderson-lane-svrd-eb-and-cameron-road))
Arrest affidavit details
According to the affidavit, Reveles-Ibarra told officers he was returning home from a friend’s house and had been alone in his truck. He allegedly claimed he had a green light and that the Kia had entered the junction in front of him.
Investigators said he later admitted drinking alcohol at the house. An officer reported that he had slurred speech, was swaying, had bloodshot and watery eyes, and smelled strongly of alcohol, the affidavit states.
Reveles-Ibarra was taken to Travis County Jail and charged with intoxication manslaughter. His bond was set at $100,000.
Austin police said the crash was the city’s 64th fatal collision of 2026, with 65 deaths recorded. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said information could change as further evidence is reviewed.
