Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez remained silent as they arrived at a Los Angeles courthouse for a custody hearing involving their 13-year-old son, Maceo, who was called to testify behind closed doors.
The hearing is continuing, with the judge ordering both parents to leave the courtroom while their son gave evidence. His testimony has been placed under seal.
Berry arrived early on Monday wearing a dark trouser suit and sunglasses. She walked past cameras without responding to questions from reporters.
Martinez was also seen returning to the courthouse after a lunch break, but declined to speak as he went back inside.
The former couple were reported to have arrived separately, with Berry first and Martinez later accompanied by Maceo. Tensions appeared to rise when Berry glared at her ex-husband as he entered the courtroom.
The custody dispute follows allegations by Martinez that Berry attacked and choked their son during an argument about a virtual reality video game. Berry has strongly denied the allegations.
A judge previously issued a temporary restraining order limiting Berry’s contact with Maceo. Martinez is seeking sole custody, while Berry wants their previous shared-custody arrangement reinstated.
