Arsenal and Chelsea have been dealt a potential blow in their interest in Désiré Doué, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly making progress towards extending the France international’s contract.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most highly regarded young attackers, prompting interest from several leading Premier League clubs. However, PSG are increasingly confident of securing his long-term future in Paris.
PSG contract talks advance for Désiré Doué
Doué’s current agreement runs until 2029, but negotiations over an extension are understood to be advancing. The move would give the French club even greater control over a player who has become an important part of Luis Enrique’s preferred attack.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all carried out checks on Doué’s situation. Reports indicate that the clubs have received the same message: the winger is not seeking a move away from PSG and is prepared to commit himself to the club.
Doué’s ability to operate on either flank or through central attacking areas has helped establish him as an attractive target for elite clubs. Bayern Munich are also understood to retain an interest after missing out on his signature in 2024.
Arsenal and Chelsea face a difficult transfer pursuit
Arsenal would see Doué as a player capable of adding creativity, one-versus-one ability and flexibility to their attack. Chelsea’s interest is similarly understandable, with the youngster offering the ability to create from wide positions or influence matches between the lines.
PSG, though, are under no pressure to sell. Doué is already tied to the club until 2029, meaning any future approach from Arsenal or Chelsea would likely require a fee well above €100 million if he signs a new agreement.
Both Premier League clubs may continue to monitor developments, but Doué’s apparent desire to remain in Paris and PSG’s determination to retain him have made a transfer increasingly difficult to envisage.
