Evidence in Russell Brand’s sexual assault trial has heard that an alleged victim told her sister his eyes appeared “completely blank” during an encounter at a London bar in 2004.
The woman’s sister told Southwark Crown Court on Monday that the comedian seemed like a different person during the alleged attack, which she described as making him appear as though he had become possessed.
She said the woman initially told her that Brand had dragged her into a bathroom at a Soho bar, locked the door and attempted to sexually assault her.
However, the court heard that in 2023, amid renewed scrutiny of Brand, the woman broke down and told her sister that the incident had involved being forced to perform oral sex.
The witness said the woman had been shaken by what allegedly happened and had been afraid to contact police because she feared she would be blamed or not believed.
The woman has told investigators that Brand grabbed her breasts after meeting her at a birthday party at a London cocktail bar before taking her to a bathroom and allegedly forcing her to perform oral sex.
Brand, 51, is on trial over seven sexual offences involving six women. The charges include three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.
He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
