San Francisco will honour the Golden State Valkyries’ first WNBA championship with a waterfront parade on Wednesday, November 4, as the newly crowned champions take their trophy through the city.
The celebration will begin at noon and run until 2pm along The Embarcadero, starting near the Ferry Building at Mission Street before travelling south to King and Second streets. Supporters will be able to line the route from 9am on the bay side of the road. ([valkyries.wnba.com](https://valkyries.wnba.com/news/golden-state-valkyries-announce-championship-parade-information))
The Valkyries secured the title on Saturday, October 31, defeating the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in the first winner-takes-all Game Seven in WNBA Finals history. The victory came in only the team’s second season. ([apnews.com](https://apnews.com/article/189aa4b8ecb1d1fd8ddfacde3a9d6ac4))
Gabby Williams, who scored 30 points in the decisive game and was named Finals MVP, is expected to help launch the procession by beating the team’s drum alongside San Francisco mayor Daniel Lurie. Oakland mayor Barbara Lee, city officials and other Bay Area figures are also due to join the players, coaches and staff. Golden State Valkyries president Jess Smith said the parade would give the team the opportunity to celebrate with supporters who had backed the franchise from its beginning, while head coach Natalie Nakase said the championship belonged as much to the fans as to the players.
Authorities have announced extensive traffic and public transport changes around the route. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said a number of streets would close from the early hours, with several Muni services diverted or adjusted until the roads reopen. Bay Area Rapid Transit said it would run longer trains and add services, urging spectators to use public transport and travel to Embarcadero or Montgomery stations for access to the parade. ([bart.gov](https://www.bart.gov/news/articles/2026/news20261029))
