Sharon Stone has revealed she has been celibate for “quite a while”, saying she is no longer interested in casual relationships and wants a companion rather than someone simply seeking sex.
The Basic Instinct star made the admission during an appearance on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown podcast, where she also said she did not believe she had yet experienced the great love of her life.
Stone, who has been married twice, said she had enjoyed both good and bad relationships but had been single for a considerable period.
“I’m a really good girlfriend, but I haven’t been a girlfriend in a long time,” she said. “And I’ve been a girlfriend to bad boyfriends. And I’ve been a girlfriend to good boyfriends. I’ve had good luck and bad luck and no luck at all. And for quite a long time, I’ve had no luck at all.”
She added: “I’ve been celibate for quite a while now because I’m at the point where I really only want to be with someone that I care for.
“And now that my kids are grown, I want someone that’s my companion, not just someone to have sex with. I’m kind of bored with that.”
Stone is the mother of three adopted sons, Roan, Laird and Quinn. She said she believed accepting a period of solitude was necessary if she was eventually to find the relationship she wanted.
Asked whether she had found the great love of her life, the actress replied: “I have had loves in my life, but I don’t think I’ve had the great love of my life, no.”
Stone also recounted predictions made by two psychics, both of whom allegedly told her that she would meet her ideal partner later in life.
She said one of the women, who had previously worked with the late singer Tina Turner, gave her the prediction when she was 23 and accurately foresaw her future fame.
According to Stone, the psychic told her: “You’re not going to meet your person until you’re quite old, quite a bit older. And then they’re going to be like you. In a way, you’re going to identify with them. But it won’t be until you’re really quite a bit older, almost 70.”
Stone said another psychic later offered a similar prediction, telling her she would meet her partner when she was approaching 70.
The actress was married to television producer Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990 and to journalist Phil Bronstein from 1998 until their divorce in 2004. She has previously spoken of becoming disillusioned with dating, saying in 2020 that she was “done” with it because she found people insincere.
However, Stone made clear that she had not abandoned the possibility of love altogether and remained prepared to wait for the companionship she genuinely wanted.
