Joe Manganiello did not warn Sofía Vergara before publishing his memoir, Bloodlines, and did not provide her with an advance copy, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The sources said Manganiello also did not tell his former wife which episodes from their relationship he planned to include. They said the pair no longer speak and that he did not believe he needed to alert her before sharing his account.
Manganiello is said to have felt he had the right to tell his side of the story, while believing Vergara should already have expected him to address certain aspects of their marriage.
The sources added that public comments previously made by Vergara about the relationship had taken Manganiello by surprise. They said the memoir was, in part, a response intended to clear his name, and that Vergara should not have been surprised by it.
One of the claims in Bloodlines concerns an autoimmune disorder Manganiello was dealing with. He alleged that Vergara ridiculed him while he was seriously unwell.
Manganiello later sidestepped the allegations during an interview with CBS. Following the book’s release, Vergara’s son, Manolo, appeared to criticise him in a social media post about narcissistic men, which Vergara reposted.
Manganiello and Vergara were married for seven years before separating in July 2023. Manganiello filed for divorce, and the split was finalised six months later.
