The fixed-wing Piper aircraft came down at about 9.31pm near Park Lane in the Town of Dellona, close to Mirror Lake State Park, while travelling on a return flight from Kenosha to Menomonie.

Dispatchers received several reports of a downed aircraft before deputies and emergency personnel began searching the wooded area. No injuries or damage were reported on the ground.
Officials said the aircraft had been in contact with an air traffic control tower before the crash. Investigators are examining those communications and whether weather conditions may have played a role.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are assisting the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. The crash site remains secured while authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
