Taylor Swift has joked about her nearly 20-year estrangement from Brad Paisley during her induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, where the country singer introduced her.
Swift opened for Paisley on his Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour in 2007. Recalling their time on the road, she said he released thousands of live crickets on to her tour bus as a prank.
She said the insects’ chirping kept her awake for months and that she even considered getting a pet lizard to deal with them.
Despite the long-running fallout, Swift told the Nashville audience that Paisley’s introduction had been so kind she was prepared to let the incident go.
The ceremony marked Swift’s induction as the youngest member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, according to the announcement shared from the event.
Swift attended the occasion in a burgundy beaded mini dress, high heels and a mauve velvet overcoat. Her mother, Andrea, accompanied her to the ceremony.
Swift’s remarks turned what had been described as an estrangement into a light-hearted moment between the two performers, nearly two decades after the tour prank.
