Two people are in a critical condition after a police vehicle and a red sedan collided in Bossley Park, west of Sydney, before both vehicles crashed into separate homes.
Emergency services were called to Prairie Vale Road at about 12.20pm on Sunday after reports of the collision. Police said officers had been responding with lights and sirens to an incident involving a child seen running on the road when their vehicle struck the Kia sedan.
The force of the crash sent both vehicles off the road, through a fence and into nearby properties. No one inside either house was injured.
The Kia driver, a woman believed to be in her late 20s, was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. Her passenger, believed to be in her early 50s, was taken to Liverpool Hospital, also in a critical condition.
Two male police officers were taken to Liverpool Hospital with minor injuries and for mandatory testing.
A critical incident has been declared and investigations into the collision are continuing. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
