Westpac has reported a full-year profit of $6.8bn for 2026, a one per cent decline from the previous year, as the bank operates against an uncertain economic backdrop.
Net profit excluding notable items was unchanged at $7bn. Westpac chief executive Anthony Miller described the result as “solid”.
In the bank’s announcement, Mr Miller said Westpac had concentrated on supporting customers while improving its service, expanding its core businesses and maintaining a strong balance sheet.
“In an uncertain economic environment, we’ve remained focused on supporting our customers,” he said.
He also warned of “significant economic and social challenges” facing the country, as households prepare for a fifth interest rate rise of the year on Tuesday.
