Google is rolling out the September 2026 Android Drop, adding new tools for finding misplaced belongings, reducing travel sickness and making Gemini more useful for people who need visual assistance.
New features in the September 2026 Android Drop
Find Hub can now work with Gemini to remember where important items have been put, even when they do not have a tracking tag attached. Users can tell Gemini where an object has been left – and add a photograph – with the information stored in a new “Remembered” section of the Find Hub app.
The saved location can later be retrieved by asking Gemini, including through a voice command. The feature is rolling out to devices running Android 16 and later.
Android 17 users are also being given Motion Assist, a feature designed to ease motion sickness when travelling by car, bus or train. It places a bubble overlay on the display which moves with the vehicle, helping to align the movement seen on screen with the motion felt by the body.
Users can adjust the overlay’s colour, shape and transparency, or allow its appearance to change periodically. Motion Assist can activate automatically when Android detects movement, and can also be switched on through a Quick Settings tile.
Gemini Live is gaining Guided Vision, which provides spoken descriptions of objects and text captured by a phone’s camera. Google says it could help with tasks such as reading small print on food packaging, navigating a poorly lit restaurant menu or finding an item in a room.
If the camera is not correctly positioned, voice prompts will guide users to reframe the image, move across an area or centre an object. Guided Vision will be available through an accessibility shortcut or the TalkBack menu, and is due to reach phones running Android 9 and later in countries where Gemini is available.
Google Messages is also being connected to Google Keep, allowing people to create and update shared lists and notes within a conversation. A “Create list” suggestion or shortcut in the plus menu will open the relevant composer, with the finished note appearing directly in the chat.
The Google Keep integration is beginning to roll out, alongside the other features included in the September Android update.
