Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding have shared a behind-the-scenes wedding video capturing their three-day New York celebration, including their vows, emotional family moments and a reception with friends.
The footage, created by Sommar Films, was posted jointly by the newlyweds on Instagram with the caption: “We made some promises in NYC.”
In a voiceover accompanying the video, Harding recalls meeting Lee while working in a café. He gave her a note with his email address, adding: “but if you have a boyfriend, just tell him I was using you to get to him. I bet he is handsome”.
Lee’s vows included the line: “it is compulsory to grow old, but optional to grow up. I look forward to never growing up with you”.
Harding responded by telling her radio host partner that she looked forward to “one day sitting back when you’re 100 years old, and I’m still 36, which is so weird”. At the end of the ceremony, the couple were introduced as “Mr and Mrs Lee”.
Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding’s New York wedding
The couple designed the celebrations around their affection for New York, where they have shared many happy memories. Harding told Vogue Australia that they wanted to take their guests to some of their favourite locations around the city.
Guests arriving in the city received a series of personalised gifts, including New York Yankees caps embroidered with the wedding date, key rings from The Bowery Hotel, playing cards inspired by the mural at Bemelmans Bar and custom matchboxes.
Harding wore a gown by Steven Khalil before changing into a second custom reception dress by the same designer. Lee also included a tribute to his long-time radio co-host and best friend Hamish Blake by wearing Andy by Hamish, a fragrance Blake designed in his honour in 2017.
The celebrations continued the following morning with breakfast at Old Mates, the Australian-themed pub in Downtown Manhattan owned by Lee and Blake. According to Harding, guests opted for pub food, with head chef Simon Drolz-Cox saying the venue had never served so many chicken schnitzels at once.
For the couple, the defining moment came when they entered the reception dining room to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York as a married couple and saw their favourite people gathered together.
