She wore a grey knitted cardigan with a matching skirt, accessorised with Chanel sunglasses, a heart-shaped necklace and a sapphire ring. Her autumn-inspired outfit also included $950 mesh ballet flats by Khaite and a burgundy suede Chanel bucket bag reportedly priced at $6,700. The sighting came…
Dallas has become the largest US city yet to scale back its Flock camera network, with police set to stop using 321 automated number-plate readers from September 15. The move follows the loss of state grant funding for the devices and comes as Dallas City Council member Adam Bazaldua seeks to end the city’s wider contract with Flock Safety. Dallas police said more than 300 cameras would remain in operation, describing the technology as an important investigative tool. The department said it would continue reviewing its available resources and technology to support investigations and public safety. Mr Bazaldua is due…
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has stopped short of endorsing calls for social media algorithms to become opt-in, despite describing the content being pushed towards children as “rubbish”. Chanel Contos, the chief executive of Teach Us Consent, is due to address the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday, where she will argue that algorithm-driven feeds are exposing young users to harmful material and contributing to sexual violence in Australia. Ms Contos is urging the federal government to require platforms to obtain users’ affirmative consent before activating personalised recommendation systems. Her “Fix Our Feeds” campaign says users should be able to choose…
Seven female nurses at Darlington Memorial Hospital have been awarded a total of £187,000 in compensation after an employment tribunal found that their NHS trust harassed and indirectly discriminated against them over access to changing facilities. The nurses, who work in the hospital’s Day Surgery Unit, brought their claim against County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust after being required to share the women’s changing room with a transgender colleague. The Newcastle Employment Tribunal ruled in January 2026 that the trust had subjected the nurses to harassment by allowing the colleague to use the female changing room without providing a…
Asian markets tumbled on Wednesday, September 2, after renewed US-Iran fighting sent oil prices higher, pushed up government bond yields and revived fears that inflation could remain stubbornly elevated. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.8% in early trading. South Korea’s KOSPI dropped 3% at the open, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 sank 2.2%. Brent crude rose for a second day, gaining 0.7% to about 95.34 US dollars (£73) a barrel. Prices had already climbed to a five-week high after the US launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iran on Tuesday. The escalation has raised concerns about…
Katie Price has reportedly decided to end her eight-month marriage to Lee Andrews after discovering that an account he claimed held millions contained just £2.22, according to reports. The former glamour model is said to have consulted a divorce lawyer and sent Andrews a message accusing him of misleading her about his wealth. “I have been played and you are not who you say you are. Why have you lied to me?” Price reportedly wrote in a WhatsApp message to her husband. According to The Sun, Andrews had told Price that he held $50 million — around £37 million —…
A Pennsylvania police corporal has been charged with voluntary manslaughter after prosecutors said he fatally shot an unarmed 22-year-old man who had mistakenly gone to the wrong house in Upper Pottsgrove Township. Sean Farrell, 58, was arraigned on Tuesday and released on $75,000 bail over the death of Glenwood Earl Pysher IV. The shooting happened shortly after 12.30am on Sunday, 23 August, when officers were called to a property on Snyder Road following a report of a possible break-in. Investigators allege that Mr Pysher had been drinking while celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday before walking to the wrong address. He…
Dane Sweeny has reached the US Open second round for the first time, continuing a remarkable rise from teenage fundraising efforts to the brink of the world’s top 100. The 25-year-old Australian advanced at Flushing Meadows when Corentin Moutet retired while trailing 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 3-0. The victory was Sweeny’s second in a Grand Slam main draw, but his first outside the Australian Open. ([tennis.com.au](https://www.tennis.com.au/fan-zone/news/2026/09/02/schoolkate-sweeny-us-open-first-round-wins)) Sweeny had been due to play qualifying before a series of withdrawals allowed Alexei Popyrin to enter the main draw on his ranking, freeing up a reciprocal wildcard for his compatriot. His reward is roughly…
Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong has pleaded guilty to an offence under the city’s national security law, in a further prosecution of one of the territory’s best-known democracy campaigners. The 29-year-old was among 47 democracy activists prosecuted over an unofficial primary election held in 2020. The group was accused of conspiring to subvert state power under the national security law imposed by Beijing that year. Wong admitted the charge in…
