The Trump administration has approved the execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Hasan by firing squad, more than 16 years after he killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others at Fort Hood. Sean Parnell, the Pentagon’s chief spokesman, said the plan was recommended by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and approved by President Donald Trump. The Secretary of the Army will decide when and where the execution takes place. “Judgement day for Hasan has finally come,” Mr Parnell said in a social media post. Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was convicted of murdering 13 people at a 2013 court…

President Donald Trump has approved an execution by firing squad for former Army major Nidal Malik Hasan, who was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding more than 30 others in the 2009 Fort Hood massacre. Hasan admitted at trial that he was the gunman, but said he had carried out the attack to stop US soldiers from harming Muslims overseas. The decision comes days after an attempted lethal-injection execution in Tennessee went wrong. Christa Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital and was taken to hospital. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee subsequently halted the state’s remaining executions for the year and…
UEFA is monitoring the Manchester City case and will wait for the conclusion of the Premier League’s disciplinary process before deciding whether to take any action against the club. City were found by an independent commission to have breached the Premier League’s financial regulations between 2009 and 2018, including five charges relating to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules. The commission concluded that £830 million provided by the club’s owners had been disguised as sponsorship income over nine seasons. City are appealing the decision and insist they have “a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” that will clear them. Manchester City appeal…
