North Korean state media said the exercise was designed to train troops operating a “hypersonic strategic weapon system”. Kim Jong Un attended the launch with his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, and his wife, Ri Sol Ju. Images released by state media showed the group watching…

Chick-fil-A will remain privately owned as it pursues further international expansion, chief executive Andrew Cathy has said, rejecting the prospect of an initial public offering or outside investment. The family-run chicken chain, which has expanded from its south-eastern US roots into markets including Canada, Singapore and the UK, plans to grow in what Mr Cathy described as a “calculated” and “conservative” way. “We’re able to plan for the quarter century, and we don’t have to plan for the quarter,” he said, highlighting the longer-term approach available to a private business. Chick-fil-A does not publish quarterly results, but franchise disclosures show…

The Democratic edge is being driven by opposition to Donald Trump’s policies and weaker stated turnout intentions among Republicans. The findings point to an election shaped less by broad economic indicators than by the cost of everyday essentials, with food, groceries and petrol prices dominating voters’ assessment of the US economy. Prices emerge as the central issue in the House race Voters continue to cite prices as the main way they judge…

Kemi Badenoch has pledged to keep the state pension triple lock indefinitely, setting up a clear divide with Labour over a policy that has protected the value of the basic state pension for years. The Conservative leader ended speculation that she could abandon the mechanism, saying there had been nothing to change her mind about the party’s commitment. Asked whether the Conservatives would retain the policy “in perpetuity”, she told the BBC: “That is what we have promised. There is nothing that has happened that has made me change my mind.” Her intervention came as analysis suggested Labour’s planned changes…

Trade shows can deliver major commercial returns, but companies risk wasting the opportunity if they attend without a clear strategy, Gary Shapiro argues after more than three decades working in the industry. Shapiro, who ran CES in Las Vegas for more than 30 years, says exhibitors should define their objectives, choose events carefully, prepare their staff and measure results after the show rather than simply rent space and wait for visitors. He says the most successful companies treat trade shows as far more than rows of exhibition stands. Major events operate simultaneously as marketplaces, media platforms, conferences, product launches, networking…

Judge Colin Fassnidge quickly corrected Alisha before the exchange intensified. Giancarlo, 41, said he had tried to remain restrained as Alisha turned on Tiffany. “For whatever reason, Alisha was confused or didn’t understand,” he said. “And then it’s pretty clear she has a go at Tiffany.” Tiffany,…
