A man was arrested in West Seattle after allegedly trying to force his way into an occupied house before breaking into another property, eating food and climbing into a bed, Seattle police said.
Officers were called to the 7,000 block of Fauntleroy Way Southwest at about 2pm on Sunday, October 18, after reports of a burglary in progress. The incident was logged under case number 2026-311270. Police said the man first entered a woman’s garden and asked her for a blanket. When she told him she did not have one, he allegedly became agitated and accused her of lying before trying to get inside through the basement and back door.
The homeowner called 911 as he attempted to pull open the door. Unable to enter, the man then walked further along Fauntleroy Way and approached another home near Southwest Austin Street.
He allegedly kicked in the second property’s back door, breaking the lock, then drank milk and ate bananas in the kitchen. The house was empty at the time, and the man later settled in one of the bedrooms.
Officers surrounded the property and called out to him but received no response. A search of the house found the suspect under the covers in a bed, where he was arrested without incident, according to the Seattle Police Department. The 41-year-old was booked into King County Jail on two counts of residential burglary. Court documents also stated that he had an active warrant from Kent relating to an alleged fourth-degree assault and failure to appear.
He was being held on $25,000 bail. It was not immediately clear when he would appear in court or when formal charges would be filed.
