Gwyneth Paltrow is to star in a new Netflix thriller drama series from A24, with The Apology already receiving a two-season order.
The series will be directed by Thomas Vinterberg and written by Joe Murtagh. It will mark Paltrow’s first lead role in a television series.
Paltrow will play Evelyn, whose son was murdered 18 years ago in a cold case that attracted national attention. The case is suddenly reopened when a stranger confesses to the killing.
However, the prospect of justice is complicated when Evelyn and Caleb Amspoker learn that the alleged killer may receive a reduced sentence. The pair then decide to take matters into their own hands.
Paltrow previously held a supporting role in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series The Politician. She also had a recurring guest role on Glee, for which she won an Emmy award.
