Pedro Neto has signed a new Chelsea contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032, ending speculation over a possible summer move to Manchester City.
The Portugal international has remained an important member of Xabi Alonso’s squad despite not always being a guaranteed starter. His opportunities appeared likely to face greater competition following Morgan Rogers’ arrival, but Neto has now committed his long-term future to the club.
Chelsea confirmed the agreement on Friday, with Neto expressing his determination to build on his time in west London.
“It’s an unbelievable moment,” he said.
“From when I arrived, I have always felt like the people here helped me a lot. I feel like home here, I feel like I want to achieve more things here.
“I have had some good moments here as a group and as an individual, and now I want to have more of those moments. I’m really excited because I think we can achieve a lot of things together.”
Pedro Neto rejects Manchester City interest
Neto’s decision follows reported interest from Manchester City during the summer transfer window. The Guardian reported that the winger rejected an approach from Pep Guardiola’s side, who instead completed a deal for former Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández.
Other unnamed Premier League clubs were also said to have shown interest in the 26-year-old, but Neto opted to stay at Chelsea and compete for his place under Alonso.
The winger has also adapted to a different role this season, with Alonso using him largely as a wing-back. That positional change may have helped strengthen his prospects of regular involvement despite the competition for attacking places.
Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024 and has since established himself as a versatile option capable of operating across the wide areas. His new deal represents a clear indication that the club regard him as part of their long-term plans.
