Chicago is set for a chilly start to the weekend before temperatures rise under mostly sunny skies, with the National Weather Service forecasting a high of about 51F on Saturday and close to 60F on Sunday.
Temperatures were near freezing early on Saturday after a clear Friday night, while lighter winds helped produce a sharp overnight chill across the area.
Conditions are expected to improve through the day, with sunshine and a gradual rise into the lower 50s. That is close to the seasonal average high of around 53F for this point in November.
Temperatures will fall back into the 30s on Saturday night, and forecasters have warned of the possibility of patchy fog developing overnight and lingering into Sunday morning.
Sunday should bring a further improvement, with mostly sunny conditions and highs in the upper 50s to around 60F. Winds may become breezier, with gusts potentially reaching about 25mph in parts of the region.
The National Weather Service said dry conditions and a warming trend should continue into early next week, with highs likely to reach the low to mid-60s on Monday and Tuesday.
