Manchester United are reportedly confident of securing the signing of Leicester City midfielder Louis Page, despite competition from several Premier League rivals.
The 18-year-old England youth international has attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, but United are understood to remain in the strongest position after first exploring a deal during the summer.
A report from TEAMtalk claims that the Red Devils believe they can win the race for Page, who has continued to feature regularly for Leicester’s first team despite his limited experience.
Manchester United face competition for Louis Page
Page’s performances have strengthened the belief that he could operate at a higher level, making him an appealing target for a club with a long-standing record of recruiting and developing young talent.
Leicester may find it difficult to retain the midfielder if the interest develops into formal approaches. The club lost another highly rated prospect, Jeremy Monga, to Manchester City during the summer.
However, Leicester will hope to keep Page for longer as they attempt to secure promotion back to the Championship following last season’s relegation.
The Foxes are currently 10th in League One, although there remains sufficient time in the campaign for them to put together a run of results and climb the table.
